The Moose and the Moon (or: "And now here's something we hope you'll REALLY like")
Date ride to the coffee joint. Krista and I ran into this guy riding to the coffee house in Park City; he wasn't as concerned as I was but I stopped long enough to do this quick watercolor of him.

Looks like I need to wipe the dirt off of my camera phone lens.
We didn't ride nearly enough to justify the frozen, chocolatey, sugar-filled whipped-cream-topped, extra large frappuccino I drank, so on the way back (rail trail), we jumped on some single track and did a recovery ride up switchbacks for a few miles. At the top we took a peak at the full(ish) moon, realized it was dark and booked it back home.

Looks like I need to wipe the dirt off of my camera phone lens.

Drive by Truckee (or: "one day Cass tried to kill us all")

We got to spend some time in Truckee waiting for the weather in Park City with our friends Cass and Nick; so many trails here and it hasn't even opened up yet at higher altitudes. Another mini-camp for me; rode for hours day after day, burned some steaks on the grill, got Nick to work on our bikes and tried the Vassago on new terrain (Vassago 1, Cannondale 0). Truckee is a cool place and is becoming more and more resort like ($$$$), we hope to make it back soon for more riding.

NMBS # 3 - Santa Ynez
We visited several shops in the area from Buellton to San Luis Obispo; Chuck at Pedal Power is our number one pick. Chuck had the parts I needed for the SS and the expertise to fix Krista's shifting on both her race bikes. He lent me a tap-and-die set for re-tapping the frame thread for the tensioner on my Vassago and gave us a few other bike maintenance tips that I'll use over and over. He also had the best deals on parts; check him out if you're in the area - it's worth the trip.
The race venue a week prior was cool and colorful, temperatures in the 60s and low 70s, but the heat came quickly and the wind died equally fast just days before the event. The resulting stagnant conditions made it difficult for the racers to stay hydrated and go hard.
